Ibiza Beaches: Cala Gracio and Cala Gracioneta
On the west coast of Ibiza, north of Sant Antoni, you’ll find Cala Gració and Cala Gracioneta, two wonderfully unspoilt coves that are perfect for families. Their gently sloping seabeds and fine sand make them very safe for young children. And if you’re staying in the town, you’ll have them practically on your doorstep!
Cala Gracio and Cala Gracioneta
It takes less than five minutes by car to get from the centre of Sant Antoni to Cala Gració and Cala Gracioneta. You can even walk there on a pleasant coastal path from Caló des Moro.
If you’re travelling by car, you’ll find two small parking areas next to Cala Gració. We recommend leaving your car there if you’re heading to Cala Gracioneta too. You can reach it via the path next to the restaurant of the same name or, from Cala Gració itself, by following the rocky trail that starts beside the boat sheds at Cala Gració.
Around 80 metres wide, Cala Gració and less than 40 metres wide, Cala Gracioneta, both stand out for their beautiful surroundings, with crystal-clear waters, pine trees, junipers, traditional fishermen’s huts and stunning views of the islet of Conillera.
Cala Gracio or Cala Gracioneta? 6 reasons to choose
- If you’re travelling with children: Cala Gració. Why? Although both are like natural swimming pools, Cala Gració is easier to park at, has more shoreline for children to play on and offers lifeguard services during the summer. You can also enjoy an afternoon nap in the shade of one of its pine trees.
- If you’re travelling as a couple: Cala Gracioneta. Why? At certain times of day, it feels more intimate than its neighbouring cove, particularly if you visit in May, June, September or October. It’s also a better spot for watching the sunset. And if you’d like to enjoy a special meal, you can book a table at the restaurant right on the beach.
- f you hate jellyfish: Cala Gracioneta should be your choice. Thanks to its orientation, it is usually spared from jellyfish, which on north-westerly windy days tend to end up at Cala Gració. That doesn’t mean you’ll never find any there, but most of the time, you won’t 🙂
- If you enjoy walking: both. From either cove, you can enjoy pleasant walks around the neighbouring headlands, such as Cap Blanc (to the left of Cala Gració) or Cap Negret (to the right of Cala Gracioneta).
- If you or your companion uses a wheelchair or has reduced mobility: Cala Gració. The cove has an access ramp leading right down to the shoreline, an adapted toilet and an amphibious wheelchair, allowing you to get into the water and enjoy a fantastic day at the beach.
- SIf you enjoy snorkelling: both. With calm waters, you can snorkel at your leisure and while away the time watching the fish and marine vegetation around the rocky sides of the coves.
A coastal walk or a boat trip from the sea
If you’re coming to this area from elsewhere on Ibiza to spend the day, park your car in the town and enjoy a walk to the beach. You can also arrive by bicycle, as Cala Gració has a bicycle parking area.
And if you’re looking for something more exclusive, hire a boat without a skipper from the port and follow the coastline until you reach this beautiful spot. Don’t forget to always drop anchor in sandy areas where there is no Posidonia oceanica!
