One of the tastiest and most surprising dishes for travellers is the traditional “bullit de peix”, which translated literally from the Catalan language means “boiled fish”. With a delicious side of fisherman’s rice, this unique dish has to be included into your holiday menu. Please don’t let its name put you off and remove from your mind the image of that tasteless boiled fish your mother would feed you when you had a bad stomach. The bullit de peix is one of Ibiza’s most flavorful and traditional meals, very typical of life on sea in Ibiza. Fishermen that used to go out to work at sea used to prepare this meal on board with rock fish such as grouper, megrim, scorpionfish… They would boil them and add to this a delicious sause and boiled potatoes –to their taste., and then they would add a simple fisherman’s rice to which they would only add a bit of the same sause, some fish broth and bits of cuttlefish.

Located next to a small port on the East coast, their kitchen offers a very tasty bullit de peix… with potatoes. Adding this ingredient to this meal is down to personal preference and it would be fair to say that it divides the islands chefs into two groups: those who defend that it is traditional to add potatoes to it and those who choose the theory which doesn’t include the tuber. Contact number: 0034 971 33 52 74. Visit their Web for reservations and more info. They open all year round (except for one month which is staff holidays). Discover it when you visit the East of Ibiza.
