Getting to know Ibiza’s beaches: Cala d’Hort
Amongst Ibiza’s top 5 most beautiful beaches is Cala d’Hort, an unspoiled beach located on the south of the island, very popular due to its views of the iconic Es Vedrá islet. Please take note of our following tips and indications, book your rental car and enjoy a fantastic day out at the beach.
You will like Cala d’Hort if…
–You are looking for an unspoilt beach that stands out for its beauty. Cala d’Hort sits at the bottom of a cliff and from its shore there are some fantastic views of Es Vedrá and Es Vedranell islets. This panoramic view has made it one of the most famous beaches in Ibiza. On one of its sides you will also find a marine retreat with typical small shipyards where fishermen used to store their boats and fishing nets.
–You want to hear the sound of the sea. Forget about beach clubs and music at Cala d’Hort: you will peacefully be able to read a book or a magazine.
–You don’t mind jellyfish. Due to its southwest exposure, Cala d’Hort has a tendency to receive this unwelcome marine animal visit. Keep your eyes peeled when you step into the sea.
–You fancy eating paella with a panoramic view. On the beach itself you will find two restaurants with views of Es Vedrá: El Carmen and Cala d’Hort. At either of them you will enjoy tasty rice dishes and paella. We recommend that you phone them to make a booking as they are so popular. At the top of the cliff is Es Boldado restaurant, also with fantastic views and great seafood cuisine (you will get there by taking a turning from a road which begins at Sant Josep).
-You want to get to know the south of Ibiza. Cala d’Hort is in an area scattered with beautiful and natural enclaves such as Sa Caleta beach, the town of Sant Josep, Es Cubells’ cliffs, Cala Jondal beach (which has round rocks instead of sand) or the Ses Salines natural park.
It is one of the most famous beaches of the island so during the months of July and August it is very busy. When parking, please keep in mind that spaces next to the beach will quickly become full, so if you arrive at lunch time it is best that you do not try to find a parking spot in that area – the road is very narrow-, park your car at the enabled car park next to the cliff, just before the beginning of the slope that leads you to the beach. As a bonus you will have fantastic views over Es Vedrá.
